Graduate profile – Nursing

General Nursing

Using the skills acquired, General Nursing programme graduates will be able to provide nursing care that promotes, reinforces and preserves clients’ health and prevents the onset of diseases. In addition, the studies will allow them to self-sufficiently provide specific nursing care and support to individuals (whether they are healthy, sick, disabled or dying), their families and communities, always taking into account the specific needs of specific people at different ages and in different life situations.

Links between the teaching of the theory and practice guarantee the programme will produce nursing care professionals ready to help individuals, families and the community at large. The studies also include preparation for research and scientific work with professional presentations. At the end of their studies, the students defend a baccalaureate thesis which gives them an opportunity to present their professional ability to collect clinical data in order to increase the quality of nursing care. Completion of the studies gives the graduates an opportunity to succeed in the European healthcare labour market as well as various employment opportunities in a broad range of healthcare establishments. General Nursing programme graduates will be qualified to work as General Nurses.

Paediatrics Nursing

The Paediatric Nursing programme prepares the students to assume the role of paediatric nurses capable of self-sufficiently providing face-to-face nursing care and support to children of all ages, healthy and sick and handicapped, children with mental health disorders, dying children and their families and communities in full respect of the natural and social environment in which they live.

The graduates will be able to conduct visits to children patients in their homes, evaluate the home environment in terms of whether it guarantees healthy development of the child, provide advice and guidance in such areas as hygiene, breastfeeding, nutrition or defecation, provide plans of mandatory vaccinations, preventive examinations and dispensary care, as well as provide advice on a variety of topics including accident prevention, domestic violence, bullying and addiction in childhood. They will be able to select the appropriate method of communication with regard to the specificities related to the child’s age. They will provide nursing care and carry out or initiate other interventions or have such interventions carried out by another team member.
